Volunteer with Home & Hope February 3-10!
PTS will host Home & Hope and volunteers are needed.

Home & Hope is a cornerstone of the Social Action program at Peninsula Temple Sholom. It brings together congregants from all age groups, interests and abilities to provide shelter and comfort for homeless families from San Mateo County.

Home & Hope is a non-profit organization based in Burlingame that provides food, shelter, case management, and mentoring to homeless families through a paid professional staff in partnership with a volunteer, interfaith network of religious institutions that provide overnight shelter and meals at their sites. Families rotate among member congregations throughout the year; PTS hosts several times each year for a week at a time.

Family homelessness in San Mateo County is a significant, though often invisible, problem. Every year, roughly 6,000 people in the county become homeless, the vast majority of whom are families with children. Home & Hope operates for about $38/day per client and has about a 90% success rate in helping families to get back on their feet and transitioning them into housing.

If you would like to join with us when we next host Home & Hope families, please contact homehope@sholom.org. Please consider volunteering for any of the following:

• Set-up and/or Take-down – Adults and children
• Dinner Crew – Adults and children
• Overnight Chaperones – Adults or 16+ with a parent
• Food Coordinator – Adult
• Laundry (at week’s end) – Adult
