Once again, we'll host our ever-popular Guest Speaker Series on Monday evenings. Lectures begin at 7:00 PM and run until about 8:15 PM. Dinner is available at 6:15 PM for $15 per person.

You must RSVP for dinner by NOON the previous Friday to Georgina Baca at (650) 697-2266 or gbaca@sholom.org. Be sure to tell Bev which event you are attending (name and date), and the number of people in your party. You can pay by cash or check at the welcome table the night of the event. You can also use pre-pay using PayPal: See the box below.

Torah Study with the PTS Clergy  

Join us for interactive discussions on variety of topics that matter. Everyone is welcome. Come every week, or drop in when you can. (Double-check the Temple schedule for dates and times.)

PARASHAT HASHAVUAH (WEEKLY TORAH PORTION)
Most Saturdays, 9:00-10:00 AM

Start your Shabbat morning at this study session with Rabbi Feder. We'll explore traditional commentaries and modern interpretations of the Torah in an active dialogue with each other.

CONTEMPORARY ISSUES AND EVENTS FROM A WOMEN'S PERSPECTIVE
Most Thursdays 11:00 AM - noon

The class, led by Rabbi Ettlinger, will discuss a variety of issues affecting women. Newcomers encouraged!

THE BIBLE VERSE BY VERSE WITH RABBI FEDER
Most Wednesdays, 11:00 AM - Noon

Take some time from your work day to feed your soul. Together as a community, we will read and discuss the Bible, verse by verse. Bring a sack lunch if it's during your lunch break.

LUNCH DISCUSSION WITH RABBI FEDER
Fourth Thursdays of Most Months, Noon - 1:30 PM

Join Rabbi Feder and fellow congregants for a little laughter and a lively discussion over lunch. Topics range from politics and history to Jewish thought and traditions. All are welcome, bring a bag lunch. Walk-ins welcome! Contact the Temple office for the location.

Study with five dynamic Jewish scholars: Noah Alper (Noah's Bagels); Rabbi Gordon Freeman (Cong B'nai Shalom); Fred Rosenbaum (Lehrhaus Judaica) Henry Shreibman (Reconstructionist Rabbi); and Akiva Tor (Consul General of Israel). In this provocative series, we will explore an eclectic collection of topics in intimate settings; from a look at our Bay Area Jewish heritage, to an investigation of modern ethics found in ancient texts.

In Israel, more than in any other country, culture reflects society. Join us for a series of old and contemporary Israeli films, each followed by a discussion facilitated by Eran Vaisben, PTS Education Director. Refreshments and popcorn will be served. Films begin at 8:00 PM.

Essential Jewish Studies  

BECOMING ADULT BAR/BAT MITZVAH, WITH RABBI ETTLINGER
Thursday evenings, Oct. 22 - Jun. 10, 7:00-8:30 PM
B'nai Mitzvah service: Friday, Jun. 11, 2010
Lifecylce Fee: $360*

If you have not had the opportunity to become a bar or bat mitzvah, now is your time. Join Rabbi Ettlinger for a year of study and camaraderie with other adults just like you. Students will learn to read Hebrew (no prior knowledge required), understand the prayers, discuss Torah and contemporary Jewish issues, all within the context of becoming a bar or bat mitzvah. All adults are welome: men and women, lifetime Jews and those who are Jews by choice.
