Experience Judaism in the fun way -- go to camp, take a teen trip to Israel, or participate in a semester abroad! PTS wants to help you take advantage of these terrific opportunities. Jewish summer camps and Israeli trips create strong Jewish identities and connections to the Jewish community. Let's make that experience a reality.
Download the Camps2011 document to see the available scholarships available through PTS, the Jewish Community Federation, our local Bureau of Jewish Education, and the URJ. We hope you find this information helpful as you help plan your children's Jewish experiences.
A warm thank you to the supporters of the various PTS Funds whose gifts provide scholarships to our PTS youth. Thank you to the whole PTS community for supporting the Gift of Israel program each year by contributing, along-side the Jewish Community Federation, funds to match each family's savings towards an Israel trip.
If you have any questions about programs on how to take advantage of scholarship funds, Rabbi Feder would love to hear from you.
Which summer camp?
Our PTS kids go to many different summer camps, but our primary affiliatation as a synagogue is with URJ Camp Newman, located north of the Golden Gate Bridge near Santa Rosa. Run by the Union for Reform Judaism, Camp Newman is a true jewel for our movement, our synagogue and our families. In fact, PTS sends more children to Camp Newman than any other synagogue!
Our Founding Rabbi, Gerald Raiskin z''l, was very close to Camp Newman, and after his passing, the outdoor worship area at the camp was dedicated in his honor. Our clergy spend time each summer volunteering at Camp Newman.
While Camp Newman is our first recommendation for a Jewish summer camp, many PTS families have a connection to Camp Tawanga, an unaffiliated camp located on the Tuolumne River near Yosemite National Park.
