Rabbi Gerald Raiskin, z’’l, was the founding Rabbi of Peninsula Temple Sholom. Born in 1926, Rabbi Raiskin moved from New York City to Burlingame in 1956. Previously, he had been an assistant rabbi at the Stephen Wise Free Synagogue in Manhattan.
Rabbi Raiskin passed away on April 17, 2006, only a few months before he was to retire after 50 years at PTS. May his memory be an inspiration and a blessing to all who knew him.
The Rabbi Gerald and Helen Raiskin Torah Center, the religious school at PTS, was named in his memory, and in that of his loving wife, Helen Raiskin.
